A native of Buffalo, New York; Alan R.H. Nettles is an invigorating, emotionally, soul-stirring writer and director. He received professional training in Motion Pictures & Television from the Academy of Art University, Watkins College of Art, Design, & Film, and the prestigious Howard University. He has a Bachelor’s of Science in Communications with a concentration in TV & Film Production from Tennessee State University.

According to several of Mr. Nettles’ colleagues and professors, he is a dynamic director with a beautiful soul. He’s able to convey the most meaningful aspect to a story in his films. As one professor at Nashville’s historic, Watkins College of Art, Design, & Film put it, "Alan Nettles is a damn fine writer and storyteller; he has an innate ability to capture emotional, heart-warming moments within his scripts. He is truly talented and simply brilliant."

He has been a member of several organizations including: Nashville Filmmakers Association, Watkins Film Council, Howard University Film Organization, Howard Players, and the Howard Gospel Choir. In 2015, Alan wrote, directed, and produced his first short film "3 Blind Boys on the Block" which held its WORLD PREMIERE at the Urban MediaMakers Film Festival in Atlanta, GA. The film went on to premiere in Chicago at the Chi-Town Multicultural Film Fest where the film earned "The Best of Fest" celebratory award. Matthew Jacobs, one of the feature writers of Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove recently stated, "3 Blind Boys on the Block is very good. I love the way Alan brought everything together in a surreal way, very theatrical piece of work."

Mr. Nettles is the Founder and CEO Director of Moving4ward Productions. Moving4ward Productions seeks to produce television shows and films that truly incorporate diversity allowing people of all ethnicities the opportunity to be represented on screen. Diversity is an ongoing issue in the entertainment industry particularly in Hollywood. Moving4ward Productions seeks to retract that social trend. In order for there to be a plethora of unique roles that people of all ethnicities can take part in, there must be a production company that develops and produces material which will allow diversity to take place.

Currently, Alan is working on the feature version of "3 Blind Boys on the Block" along with a holiday film entitled Through the Fire with whom he hopes to shop to Queen Latifah. He also has plans to bring his original musical The African-American Experience: A Walk Through Time on tour in 2020 starting with Chicago for opening night.
