A 45-year veteran of theatre, film, and video, Mac founded three theatres, including Tennessee’s largest and most successful regional theatre company, The Nashville Rep, producing and directing over 65 major theatre productions. Mac moved into film & video in 2001, as a partner in Earnhardt Pirkle, Inc., where he produced film, video and event productions for a wide variety of non-profit and corporate clients. In 2011, Mac founded Creative Communications, LLC – a communications and media production company.
In 2016, He wrote, produced, and was the creative director for the CBS production of Listen! A Musical Celebration of Christmas at Berea College. In 2008, he was the Executive Producer of the documentary, Uncounted, The New Math of American Elections, which aired on the Starz network. Mac has produced, written and directed numerous faith based film and video projects for the United Methodist Publishing House/Abingdon Press, including a 90-minute interactive film based on the book of Revelation; Live B.I.G., a three-year children’s Bible study with over 100 short episodes annually, and the follow up Grow, also a three-year curriculum; and over 20 multi-episode adult programs.
Much of Mac’s work, and the work of Creative Communications, centers on cause-oriented films for non-profit organizations and companies. Recent theatrical productions include 2012’s The Nutty Professor Musical (producer, Jerry Lewis director, Marvin Hamlisch composer), and current project, Perfect 36, a musical based on the passage of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote in 1920.
During his career, Mac has garnered numerous awards, including an ACE Cable Award, over a dozen Telly Awards, a Parthenon Award (PRSA, Nashville), and a Gold Pen Award (IABC, Nashville).
