Tom Truitt has always worn numerous hats throughout his 30 year business career. He is most well known as the founder of MusicRowSearch, a full-service headhunting firm focused on the music industry. In January 2017, he merged MusicRowSearch into Buffkin-Baker, a 17 year old retained search firm with seven offices in the US. Tom’s role at Buffkin-Baker is running the entertainment group that serves clients globally in all areas of entertainment. His core clients include production companies, venues, experiential agencies, ticketing platforms, publishers, and music tech among others.
In 2015, Tom launched the very popular event series called WHO KNEW. The series elevates and celebrates entertainment executives by providing a platform for them to share their stories in a 10 minute TED Talk is an up-close and personal way. These events consistently attract crowds of 400+ to the City Winery and have become known as the best music industry networking events in town. Tom launched this event series to help make the music industry more accessible and he is expanding the platform beyond Nashville as well as into other verticals.
Prior to his music industry headhunting work, Tom was head of sales for StudioNow (sold to AOL) and launched a visual resume service called YourElevatorPitch.
He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in English Literature and also earned his MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.
He proudly serves on the board of TED-x Nashville and the Nashville Sound Board of Notes for Notes.
